ABOUT
I'm Cari, and I am passionate about horse health. They have been my life since the year 2000, when I purchased my first horse "Gold", a purebred Morgan gelding. Horses are the best teachers, and I have learned a lot over the years. I currently own and compete on 6 Arabians, in the endurance world, and always want the best for my horses; from nutrition, to hooves, to performance. My first Arabian, Rio, (the white one pictured here) has PPID (Cushings) and IR (Insulin Resistance), so he has taught me a lot about feet, health, nutrition and caring for a metabolic horse. I found the ECIR group and that led me down the path to a more natural and holistic way of caring for horses. |

BAREFOOT TRIMMING
Studying hoof care, anatomy, and trimming at PROGRESSIVE HOOF CARE PRACTITIONERS, I've learned the "barefoot trim" for the horses best functional hoof. I follow David Landreville, Pete Ramey, and various other trimmers, taking a bit of knowledge from each. I avoid "extremes" and realize a "one size fits all" approach does not work, as each horse is a unique individual. Nor am I "anti-shoe", I am 100% for whatever works for the horse. |

NUTRITION
It is my goal to give you the tools you need to make informed, educated decisions regarding your horse's health, hooves, and nutrition. Having owned EMS (Equine Metabolic Syndrome), and PPID (Cushings) horses, I've learned a lot about current equine diets, and a what a proper equine diet looks like. I've studied under Eleanor M. Kellon, VMD. And have completed two of her equine nutrition semesters, with more to come. I'm also a member of FeedXL and study under Dr. Nerida Richards PhD, as well as attending a minimum of two seminars a month on continuing education for nutrition through my farrier school. I offer nutrition consultations and will go through your horses complete diet with you. Nutrition is the basis for a healthy horse from nose to tail. |

BOOT FITTING
All brands of boots are different and do not fit the same, some are meant to be snug, some are meant to be loose. I have a fitting kit for each of the major brands, and provide boot fitting appointments. I will also work with you if for some reason that particular boot ends up not working. There are two types of boots; those meant for stall wear, and those meant to be worm while riding. Hoof boots are used for riding, jumping, dressage, rehabilitation & barefoot transitioning. |

SADDLE FITTING
Saddle fitting can be one of the most frustrating experiences of owning horses. Saddle fitting can be intimidating, but utilizing a saddle fitter allows you to choose a saddle that best fits you and your horse. Not only is a good-fitting saddle more enjoyable to ride in, but ill-fitting saddles can also cause long-term damage to your horse’s shoulders and back. Pain from a poorly fitted saddle can cause behavioral issues and even career-ending lameness. Lets work together to give your horse the comfort and freedom they deserve. |
